Job summary

The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission Ministries Inc is seeking a full-time Security Officer to help ensure a safe environment for guests and staff. The role includes regular patrols, monitoring surveillance, and coordinating with authorities as needed.

Must have crisis intervention and de-escalation skills, and be licensed to carry a firearm; prior police or military training is preferred. Schedule is 40 hours per week, 4 p.m.–12 a.m., with a starting wage of $25/hr.

Qualifications

• Crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation experience required.
• L icensed to carry a firearm.
• Previous police or military training/experience required.
• Training or certification in safety and security preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a constant presence in the community through regular patrols to deter crime and provide quick help when needed.
• Remain vigilant regarding potential hazards or problems which could harm the public.
• Observe surveillance cameras, investigate reports of suspicious activity, and report suspicious activities and emergencies to local authorities.
• Reasonably detain persons suspected of felony level criminal activity until law enforcement arrives and escort trespassers and other unwelcome parties off the premises.
• Provide input to management to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures which include emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
