Proviso Township High Schools District #209 is seeking an Evening School Counselor to support students with academic, personal/social development, and college and career planning after regular school hours.

The role requires a valid Illinois PEL with School Counselor endorsement, prior high school counseling experience, data-analysis ability, a master's degree, and a willingness to work 4:00 PM–8:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, at $40 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of counseling theory and techniques.

• Develop a plan to evaluate and communicate findings of the counseling program.
• Create an environment of respect and rapport.
• Establish standards of conduct and contribute to a culture that supports positive student behavior and achievement.
• Assess student needs and assist students and teachers in academic/personal-social/career planning.
• Use appropriate counseling techniques in individual, small-group, and classroom settings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Experience or Training

• Social-emotional intervention experience

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

PLANNING AND PREPARATION

• Demonstrate knowledge of counseling theory and techniques.
• Demonstrate knowledge of child and adolescent development.
• Establish goals for the counseling program appropriate to the setting and the students served.
• Demonstrate knowledge of state and federal regulations and resources, both within and beyond the school and district.
• Plan the counseling program, integrated with the regular school program, including crisis prevention, intervention, and response.
• Develop a plan to evaluate and communicate findings of the counseling program.
