Job summary

Chesterfield County Schools is seeking General Cleaners to support facilities in Midlothian, VA. The role features a 2nd shift aligned with school hours and summers, offering both full-time and part-time options.

No prior work experience is required; training will be provided. Responsibilities include sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, washing windows, and maintaining clean common areas in accordance with district standards.

Qualifications

• Able to read, write and comprehend at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse group of people.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to school district environment.
• Criminal background check is required.
• No prior work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors.
• Machine shampoo carpeting.
• Clean walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures, window blinds, brass, and other interior fixtures.
• Wash interior and exterior windows and glass doors.
• Sweep entryways, empty exterior cigarette urns, and empty trashcans outside building entrances.
• Clean restrooms, replenish supplies, and maintain cleanliness of facilities.
• Change interior light bulbs reachable from the sixth step of a ladder or lower.
• Complete work requests to notify management of needed repair work.
• Remove snow and ice and apply salt and/or ice melting products as needed.
• Organize and supply custodial closets as needed.
• Move, remove, and/or set up furniture for special functions as directed.
• Additional duties as required by supervisor.
