Job summary

MOT Charter School is seeking a Substitute Custodian for the K-8 Academy. This part-time role runs Monday through Friday from 6pm to 10pm, supporting a safe, clean and welcoming school environment after hours.

You will work with a team to maintain facilities, assist with event setup, and ensure rooms are ready for the next day. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, custodial experience in schools, and a valid Delaware driver's license; willing to perform light repairs, snow

Qualifications

• At least a high school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of custodial experience in a school setting (Desired).
• Hold and maintain a Delaware driver's license.
• Satisfactory PPD, fingerprint, criminal background, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a program of building cleanliness to insure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.
• If the last person in the building, responsible for closing the building each school day and answering the alarm.
• Follow established procedures for securing the building and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, loss and liability and ensuring safety.
• Monitor heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures and to insure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
• Follow an established cleaning schedule that will include the cleaning of floors, counters, whiteboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
• Keep the building, sidewalks, roads, parking lots, and play areas neat and clean.
• Make minor building repairs as needed and report needed major repairs to the Facilities Manager.
• Monitor cleaning supplies and report low supplies to the Facilities Manager.
• Comply with occupational health and safety codes and standards.
• Inform Facilities Manager of any safety hazards.
• Keep informed of and comply with school policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.
• Report unauthorized person in or around school building to the Principal.
• Repair furniture, equipment and facilities for the purpose of ensuring that items and facilities are available and in safe working condition.
• Deliver supplies, mail, packages, furniture for the purpose of distributing the materials to the appropriate parties.
• Report equipment loss or damage to the Facilities Manager.
• Respond to emergency situations (e.g. facility damage, damaged athletic equipment, roof leaks) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety and property damage concerns.
• Set up and take down furniture for special events.
• Remove snow from sidewalks and ensure safe passage to and from buses and parking lot.
• Perform miscellaneous facility maintenance tasks, such as painting, snow and ice removal, landscape work, general grounds clean-up.
• Operate floor polishers, vacuums, carpet cleaners, floor strippers, waxers, lawnmowers, edgers, snow equipment, and all hand and power tools.
• Perform such other duties as may, from time to time, be assigned.
