Job summary

Derby Public Schools is seeking an evening shift custodian to support cleaning and maintenance of school facilities. The role involves cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas, plus setting up meeting rooms and assisting with deliveries.

Under supervision, you will perform grounds-keeping, snow removal, waste disposal, and basic repairs, ensuring safety and cleanliness across buildings and grounds.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
• Prior cleaning/maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check and secure building at shift start/end for safety.
• Clean rooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas to standards.
• Sweep, mop, wax floors; clean windows and surfaces.
• Set up and break down furniture for meetings and events.
• Perform snow removal and grounds-keeping tasks as needed.
