Job summary

Lyons Elementary School District 103 is seeking a part-time Custodian to clean and maintain school facilities. The role coordinates with the Buildings & Grounds Director, Administrators, and staff, with duties including daily cleaning, minor repairs, and safety checks.

Hours run 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on school days and 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. when not in session. The position requires reliability, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Custodial experience preferred.
• Customer service skills are a plus.
• Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in classroom, offices, cafeterias and common areas.
• Performs minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing light fixtures or unclogging pipes.
• Assists in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and cafeteria.
• Cleans exterior grounds and monitors safety hazards.
• Operates custodial equipment and ensures proper use of chemicals.
• Responds to building-use requests and assists with set up and clean up after activities.
