Job summary

Kamiak Elementary School in Pullman, WA is seeking a Custodian to perform cleaning and related duties for the district. The role supports safe and clean facilities during evening hours (2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.) across a 260-day schedule.

Responsibilities include using custodial equipment, following safety procedures, maintaining building security, and assisting with events and grounds. The position requires physical stamina and a First Aid/CPR certification or training within the first month.

Qualifications

• Must have physical ability and stamina to perform custodial tasks.
• Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification or complete training within the first month.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain facilities using proper procedures, equipment and chemicals.
• Use custodial power equipment and hand tools for cleaning and maintenance.
• Operate equipment in a safe manner.
• Perform custodial duties as required.
• Address safety hazards and follow instructions (written and oral).
• Read and interpret service orders and manuals.
• Store, use, and handle chemicals safely and properly.
• Set up and take down furniture for events.
• Assist in maintaining school grounds and assist with ice/snow removal.
• Maintain building security at all times.
• Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrate professionalism and work with minimal supervision.
