Job summary

Scio High School is seeking a Custodian for the swing shift (2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.) to maintain cleanliness, safety, and the operational condition of school facilities. This 1.0 FTE position involves routine cleaning, minor maintenance, event setup, and ensuring secure facilities.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and the ability to pass a background check. Prior custodial experience is preferred; evening or weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds independently.
• Pass required background check and fingerprint clearance.
• Preferred: custodial, facilities, or maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, gyms, cafeterias, and other facilities.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize; manage supplies and waste.
• Unlock/secure buildings per district procedures; report safety hazards.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs; replace light bulbs; basic door hardware work.
• Set up, arrange, and tear down furniture for events and meetings.
• Operate custodial equipment like buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, carpet extractors.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and use chemicals properly.
• Assist with snow/ice removal and grounds inspections as assigned.
• Attend trainings and maintain required certifications.
