Job summary

Independent School District 196 is seeking a custodian for 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday (2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.). The role involves cleaning, minor repairs, moving furniture, and assisting with building security and grounds duties.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalency, reliable attendance, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Preference for prior custodial experience and a positive interview with references.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Custodial and routine maintenance experience preferred.
• Must follow verbal and written instructions and work independently.
• Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to communicate clearly with staff, students and the public.
• Demonstrates a cooperative, punctual and reliable work history.
• Positive interviews and good references are expected.
• Experience in a diverse school community is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned building areas and perform minor repairs as directed.
• Move and arrange furniture as needed.
• Assist in securing the building at shift end.
• Support the school recycling program.
• Assist with grounds duties including trash pickup, mowing, weed control, and snow removal.
• Perform duties in a timely, neat and efficient manner.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.
