Job summary

McLean County Unit District No. 5 is seeking a Custodial/Maintenance staff member for Parkside Junior High School on the 2nd shift. The role involves maintaining a clean learning environment, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting daily school operations.

Responsibilities include cleaning floors, restrooms, windows, and classrooms; handling basic repairs and safety checks; and assisting with events and cafeteria areas as needed. The position is non-exempt with schedule 3:00pm–11:30pm.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• General knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
• Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
• Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to carry up to 35 lbs.
• Requires employee to have the ability to push/pull up to 26 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Dust mopping the gym floor, stage, and bleachers.
• Dust mopping and wet mopping classroom floors and hallways.
• Vacuuming rugs and carpeted floors.
• Move furniture including chairs, tables, and desks.
• Changes light bulbs.
• Empty trash and carry to dumpsters.
• Service, clean and supply restrooms.
• Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after operating hours.
• Keeps building neat and clean at all times.
• Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to maintain comfortable conditions.
• Moves furniture or equipment as directed for activities.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning.
