Job summary

La Porte Community School Corporation is seeking a 2nd Shift Head Custodian Supervisor (Non Union) for a Monday–Friday schedule from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. The role supervises cleaning operations, coordinates supplies, and ensures building security and safety across school facilities.

Ideal candidates will have experience in school facility cleaning, scheduling, snow removal, and supervision, plus strong management, communication, and organizational abilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in school facility cleaning, scheduling, snow removal, and supervision.
• Excellent management, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Capable of moving heavy equipment.
• Holds a valid driver's license and has reliable transportation.
• Working knowledge of custodial equipment systems and cleaning.
• Working knowledge of basic computer skills and software.

Responsibilities

• Keep assigned building area clean, comfortable, and ready for school use.
• Make requisitions for supplies and equipment and building repairs to the Head Custodian or supervisor.
• Close and lock all windows and doors at the end of each day in areas of responsibility.
• Report to the supervisor any items needing immediate attention.
• Perform inspection of general area and complete additional cleaning and maintenance tasks as discovered.
• Check boiler and mechanical operation and make boiler entries as assigned by the Head Custodian.
• Follow procedures for building security.
• Operate sweepers, buffers, wet vacs, and other equipment.
• Change light bulbs and/or ballasts.
• Take care of flag display.
• Check for fire and safety hazards and report or correct as needed.
• Remove snow and ice from entrances, walks, and steps.
• Work in emergencies when school is dismissed due to weather.
• Assist Principal with special requests and emergency duties as they arise.
• Operate heating plant and mechanical machinery for building operations.
• Accept deliveries and relocate them as needed.
• Perform mowing, sweeping, graffiti removal, and debris cleanup.
• Assist students, teachers, and patrons to support education and community relations.
