Job summary

Sylvan Learning seeks an enthusiastic Reading Tutor to support K-12 students in reading. You will help strengthen phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension, building confidence through structured activities and progress tracking.

You’ll teach individually and in small groups, follow Sylvan’s curriculum, and document student progress. The role involves afternoon/evening hours and requires use of tablets and classroom technology.

Qualifications

• Strong reading, comprehension, and English-language skills required.
• Ability to explain reading concepts clearly and patiently.
• Experience with children or teenagers in educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging reading instruction individually and in groups.
• Teach phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and other reading skills.
• Follow Sylvan curriculum and preplanned lessons.
• Help students prepare for classroom tests and complete instructional notes.
• Use tablets and instructional technology as required.
• Maintain a safe, organized, positive learning environment.
