Job summary

Hartford HealthCare's Hartford Hospital Public Safety department is seeking a Public Safety Officer to serve as a front-line guardian for patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring environments are safe and secure while remaining ready to respond to emergencies. You will patrol and monitor facilities, manage incidents, complete reports, and collaborate with law enforcement and other first responders.

A high school diploma and valid driver's license are required, with preferred public safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Valid CT Guard Card required.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English required.
• One year of relevant experience preferred.
• Basic First Aid and CPR preferred.
• CPI MOAB preferred.
• Multilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional, customer service focused assistance to the HHC Community including patients, visitors, families, colleagues, clinicians, physicians, and the first responder community.
• Patrols and rounds facility to identify concerning activity, safety concerns or other problems; may be assigned to fixed areas or mobile patrols.
• Provides a timely response, uses problem solving to manage and investigate security incidents and hazards.
• Maintains current knowledge of instructions, policies and procedures and follows them.
• Shares information with other Public Safety Officers, maintains accurate activity logs and completes reports.
• Partners with law enforcement and other first responders when circumstances warrant.
• Informs supervisor or leadership of unusual situations and requests additional assistance as needed.
• Completes other duties as assigned.
