Job summary

Inova Fairfax Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Technician Assistant 1 (PRN evenings) to join the team. The role involves obtaining, preparing, and packaging specimens for transport, and ensuring proper collection technique and documentation.

You will support accessioning, patient registration, and billing procedures to enable accurate testing and reporting. The position requires a High School diploma or GED and offers opportunities for ongoing training; Basic Life Support is required within 3

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED.
• Experience: No experience required.
• Certification: Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtains, prepares, and packages specimens for transport and QA evaluation.
• Provides containers and instructions for sample return; verifies collection technique and volume.
• Attends department meetings and completes required educational and skills reviews.
• Manages specimen accessioning and processing to ensure quality specimens for testing; handles special procedure specimens per policy.
• Registers patients and processes billing/test orders accurately to ensure proper testing, reporting and compliance.
• Other duties as assigned.
