Job summary

Kent County 17th Circuit Court is seeking a 2nd Shift Pretrial Release Investigator to join the Court Services Department. The successful candidate will screen and conduct investigations of defendants for pretrial release purposes, primarily within the Kent County Correctional Facility intake area.

Responsibilities include verifying defendant information, writing reports for various courts, presenting findings to District Court Judges for bond review, appearing in court for arraignments, and

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in criminal justice or closely related field (60 credit hours) required.
• Two years of client supervision, casework, or court/legal system experience dealing with at-risk populations, or six months pretrial service program experience.
• Knowledge of the criminal justice system and proficient use of computers.
• Valid, unrestricted Michigan driver's license and access to transportation.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Screen and investigate defendants for pretrial release.
• Interview defendants booked into the Kent County Correctional Facility intake area.
• Perform criminal history checks and risk assessments.
