Job summary

Great Performances in New York, NY, is seeking a Porter/Dishwasher to support a fast-paced kitchen environment. The role focuses on cleanliness, sanitation, dish organization, and basic maintenance to ensure smooth operations during evenings and weekends.

You will lift up to 50 lbs, work on-site, and join a team dedicated to hospitality and quality service. Prior porter/dishwasher experience is preferred, but reliability and a strong work ethic are essential.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of porter and/or dishwasher experience in a café, restaurant, or food service environment.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization.
• Basic understanding of kitchen sanitation, safety standards, and DOH guidelines.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods (up to 8-hour shifts).

Responsibilities

• Ensure the kitchen area is clean, organized, and maintained, including floors, countertops, and cooking equipment.
• Efficiently wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, utensils, and cookware; properly sort and store clean items.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and clutter-free dish area to support smooth kitchen operations.
• Dispose of waste and recyclables according to established procedures; maintain cleanliness of waste disposal areas.
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and appliances.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as mopping floors, sanitizing surfaces, and restocking supplies.
• Support overall kitchen cleanliness to uphold sanitation and hygiene standards in compliance with DOH regulations.
• Perform light maintenance duties such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, minor equipment adjustments, and unclogging drains.
• Identify and report any larger maintenance or safety concerns to management promptly.
• Support facility upkeep by ensuring storage areas, hallways, and common spaces are clean, organized, and hazard-free.
• Perform additional duties as required based on the needs of the operation.
