Qualifications

• TN State Pharmacy Tech license required.
• PTCB Certification required.
• Hospital experience required.
• Graduate of ASHP (CSPT) accredited Pharmacy Tech Program, Associates degree or 2 years of equivalent experience.
• Completion of IV Admixture Training Program with successful quality controls.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of hospital policies and regulations; dispense accordingly.
• Consult with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient reactions, errors, and complaints.
• Assist with inventory and ordering of pharmaceuticals; support quality improvement initiatives.
• Monitor, record, and communicate using computerized documentation systems.
• Follow Standard Precautions using PPE as required.
• Perform duties including buyer, narcotics, and IV room responsibilities.
• Accurately perform pharmaceutical calculations on injectable medications.
• Prepare IV admixtures and all IV batch medications.
• Maintain safety cabinets, laminar airflow workbenches, and glove boxes.
• Complete sterile compounding logs and manage variances.
• Perform cleaning procedures for biosafety cabinets and IV work surfaces.
