Job summary

Advocate Health's Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital - Food and Nutrition department is seeking a part-time Food Service Assistant to support patient meal delivery and tray assembly. The role requires attention to dietary orders and patient interactions in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities include assembling trays, distributing meals, communicating with nursing staff, maintaining food temps, and following QA procedures. Evening shifts 4pm-8pm on weekdays and weekends are possible.

Qualifications

• In high school, high school graduate or GED.
• 6 months in customer service field/ office
• Good Computer skills and able to navigate on computer
• Good communication skills
• Detail and results orientated
• Strong organizational skills
• Mathematical competence
• Ability to communicate effectively; written and verbal
• Ability to speak, read and write English clearly and proficiently
• Have a neat and professional appearance

Responsibilities

• Assembles patient trays according to menu selections and dietary orders.
• Delivers and retrieves patient trays and nourishments, ensuring accuracy.
• Communicates with nursing staff about patient needs and diet orders.
• Maintains professional appearance and follows department policies.
• Takes temperatures and ensures proper food temps are achieved.
• Documents and reports patient concerns to supervisor as appropriate.
• Participates in training, QA/CQI documentation, and area huddles.
