Job summary

AdventHealth in Kansas is seeking a Part-time Emergency Department associate for day shifts (5:00pm - 9:00pm, 16 hours/week). You will handle Medicare compliance, patient financial responsibility estimates, and insurance pre-authorizations while maintaining accurate records and delivering high-quality customer service.

Responsibilities include coordinating with utilization management, registering patients, and communicating across departments to enhance the patient experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or healthcare settings preferred.
• Knowledge of CMS, EMTALA, HIPAA guidelines and privacy rules.
• Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue notices as needed.
• Estimate patient financial responsibility and manage payments or payment plans.
• Coordinate with utilization management for pre-authorization and provide necessary information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain pre-authorizations within set timeframes.
• Register patients for services and ensure accuracy of medical records.
• Collect demographic and insurance information accurately.
• Provide coverage across assigned work areas and arrange relief as needed.
• Facilitate communication between clinical, ancillary, and access departments to improve patient experience.
• Document conversations with patients and insurance representatives; assist with payer decisions and payments.
• Attend meetings and contribute to team discussions.
• Provide PBX coverage and perform cashiering duties as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
