Job summary

Mars Incorporated is seeking a Packaging Operator to assist in safely packaging converted raw materials into high quality finished products in Columbia, SC. You will operate packaging lines, perform quality checks, and support maintenance while upholding GMP standards.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential. The role requires physical effort, lifting up to 50 lbs, and rotating shifts to meet production schedules.

Qualifications

• Good basic math, reading and writing skills.
• Good mechanical aptitude.
• Good housekeeping skills and knowledge of GMP's.
• Basic knowledge of personal computers.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Ability and willingness to develop and manage self, demonstrate self-directed workgroup leadership and contribute to efficiency, quality, and cost optimization with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operates packaging lines on a rotating basis (big bag, middle bag, pouch, super sack) to schedule; performs changeovers and troubleshooting.
• Maintains smooth palletizer operation.
• Blends system operation and monitoring; ensures quality checks are performed and reported.
• Monitors product flow to line; meets cut-off and tones requirements; enters work orders into MIS.
• Supports maintenance on calls; keeps an orderly, safe work environment and promotes product integrity.
• Addresses food safety and quality concerns and fosters teamwork and positive attitude.
