Job summary

St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY, part of Trinity Health, is seeking a skilled Operating Room Tech/Surgical Tech for the evening shift.

The role involves assisting as first scrub, maintaining sterile fields, preparing ORs, and ensuring accurate instrument counts. Minimum requirements include completion of an accredited surgical technology program and a certified technologist credential; NYS LPN license or military training in surgical tech are also acceptable.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists.
• Must possess a certified surgical technologist credential or be within two years of start if credentialing is pending.
• NYS LPN license or equivalent training in surgical technology accepted as alternative.
• Up to 1–2 years OR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as first scrub at the surgical table for select procedures.
• Create and maintain a sterile field in the OR.
• Prepare operating rooms and equipment for procedures.
• Monitor sterility and perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts.
• Assist with patient positioning and safe transport when needed.
