PRIMARY PURPOSE

Manage retail operations within the assigned department, making decisions impacting store associates, merchandise quality, presentation, and customer service. Foster strong associate and customer relations, promote a positive store culture aligned with Hannaford’s strategy, and ensure store conditions—appearance, security, safety, and food safety—are maintained at high standards. Responsible for proper control of company assets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Foster a positive, inclusive environment to retain associates and customers.
  2. Ensure all quality standards are met.
  3. Manage department operations according to established practices.
  4. Maintain the department's appearance and presentation.
  5. Hire, train, and develop associates to meet departmental needs.
  6. Achieve departmental financial objectives.
  7. Supervise performance of all department associates.
  8. Model outstanding customer service.
  9. Delegate tasks judiciously and follow up for department efficiency.
  10. Maintain accurate records of production, shrink, sales, and inventory.
  11. Meet physical requirements of the position.
  12. Recognize accomplishments and provide constructive feedback.
  13. Treat all colleagues with fairness, dignity, and respect.
  14. Ensure associates are properly trained by certified trainers.
  15. Follow all company policies and procedures.
  16. Develop product knowledge across the department.
  17. Use RF units and other tools as needed.
  18. Assist in ordering and inventory control to maximize sales and minimize shrink.
  19. Conduct performance appraisals for department associates.
  20. Maintain effective work schedules.
  21. Utilize company tools such as MPP, reports, and business systems.
  22. Ensure compliance with operational and merchandising standards.
  23. Maintain communication within the department and organization.
  24. Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, and food safety standards.
  25. Understand and address causes of shrink.
  26. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications include strong store operations knowledge, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, good judgment, leadership ability, and relevant experience. A college degree and certification as a Food Safety Manager are preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Use of computers and communication systems.
  • Lift up to 20 lbs. regularly, up to 60 lbs. occasionally.
  • Push/pull up to 40 lbs. regularly.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience in achieving financial goals.
  • Ability to foster a sales-driven, customer-focused culture.
  • Leadership and management skills for multiple departments.
  • Understanding of inventory management and use of business tools.

Salary range: $18.95 - $27.25 per hour.
