Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a per diem Operating Room Support professional to assist nurses with patient care, room preparation, and keeping OR areas clean. The role involves transporting patients, assisting with positioning, and handling specimens as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma and BLS certification; OR/Endoscopy/Environment or Transportation experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• BLS through American Heart Association required prior to hire.
• Previous OR, Endoscopy, Environmental or Transportation experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be a team player and communicate well with others.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients safely to and from the operating room.
• Assist circulating nurse with patient positioning on the OR table.
• Prep patients and assist with blood, feces, urine or body parts handling as needed.
• Deliver surgical and laboratory specimens to labs and transport blood products as required.
• Maintain the supply areas so materials are available to OR personnel.
• Demonstrate proper technique when cleaning operating rooms between cases.
• Demonstrate proper handling, cleaning, and storage of equipment and supplies.
• Keep the main OR and support areas neat and orderly.
• Assist OR staff with cleaning of instruments and equipment between procedures.
• Help with prepping patients and deal with blood/feces/urine/body parts as needed.
