Job summary

Wayne-Sanderson Farms is seeking an Occupational Health Nurse-RN to provide focused nursing care for occupational illnesses and injuries at our poultry complex. The role includes recordkeeping for OSHA and Workers' Compensation, post-offer drug screening, and review of medical histories per protocol.

Responsibilities include administering drug testing, first aid, case management, and collaboration with OSHA and workers' compensation teams.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active RN license in the applicable state.
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience; occupational health experience preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and recordkeeping requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; multilingual abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review post-offer medical history with employee and assess concerns per protocol.
• Administer drug and alcohol testing including post-offer screens.
• Provide first aid or emergency care in workplace respecting RN scope and protocols; refer when needed.
• Assist with medical cost management through early identification and follow-up care.
• Coordinate with workers' compensation adjusters, case managers, and providers for timely claim resolution.
• Maintain accurate injury, OSHA, and workers' compensation records in electronic medical records.
• Participate in Safety and Ergonomics committee and lead hazard recognition efforts.
• Develop wellness initiatives aligned with company goals.
• Lead ergonomics initiatives; analyze injury data and implement improvements.
• Manage respiratory protection, first responder, and bloodborne pathogen programs.
• Conduct new hire orientation on safety and medical topics.
• Educate employees on preventative health and wellness.
• Maintain medical supplies and order replenishments as needed.
• Assist with accident investigations and communicate with medical, legal, and insurance personnel.
