Job summary

The Long Island State Veterans Home on the Stony Brook University campus is seeking a Nurse Supervisor for the Evening shift on a part-time basis. You will coordinate nursing care, supervise staff on your shift, and ensure residents receive high-quality, compassionate care.

The role requires NYS RN license, at least two years of supervisory experience in a clinical setting, and an AAS degree; Gerontology certification is preferred. Weekend and holiday rotations are included.

Qualifications

• NYS RN license required.
• Two years supervisory experience in a health care facility.
• Experience caring for adults/aging population.

Responsibilities

• Assist Director of Nursing in developing an effective reporting system between shifts.
• Collaborate with Nurse/Managers to supervise staff on assigned shift.
• Supervise and evaluate residents' care, staffing levels, supplies, equipment, and environment.
• Ensure residents' rights are protected and promoted.
• Coordinate with other professionals to ensure high-quality resident care.
• Serve as role model and preceptor for student nurses.
• Be accessible to residents and families to address concerns.
• Identify in-service needs and assist with orientation programs.
