Job summary

Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital seeks a skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform tests across departments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. The role reports to the Laboratory Director and requires a strong foundation in clinical lab procedures and quality control.

The ideal candidate holds MLS certification (ASCP/AMT/AAB) and a bachelor’s degree from an accredited MLS program, with 4 years of medical technology experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited MLS program or completion of a clinical lab training program.
• Certification as MLS by ASCP, AMT or AAB is required.
• Minimum 4 years of medical technology experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Responsibilities

• Performs accurate and appropriate testing of specimens according to established lab protocols.
• Documents and reports test results in a timely manner; verifies accuracy before reporting.
• Conducts quality control/assurance and reports discrepancies to supervisor.
• Maintains and calibrates instruments; performs routine maintenance as needed.
• Collaborates with staff to ensure safe, efficient lab operations and patient care.
