Job summary

Trinity Health is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician for the MercyOne Des Moines Lab, evening shift. The role serves as a technical resource, troubleshoots instrument and method issues, and ensures patient results align with clinical status.

You will train new staff, operate LIS and instrument software, and participate in quality improvement while delivering excellent service to internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in science-related field.
• Successful completion of a NAACLS or ABHES accredited MLT program or alternate career path that meets certification eligibility requirements.
• Certification in MLT by ASCP or AMT, or eligible with exam to be completed within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Acts as technical information resource for MercyOne Des Moines Laboratory and troubleshoots issues to ensure accurate results.
• Operates laboratory information systems and instrument-related software; trains new employees and acts as preceptor.
• Maintains supply inventories and supports quality management and improvement initiatives.
• Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
