Gray Media is seeking a high-energy Meteorologist for WHSV-TV in the Shenandoah Valley. You will own weekend evening forecasts, deliver engaging on-air reports, and push weather coverage across social media, apps, and streaming platforms.

You will craft weather storytelling with graphics that simplify complex data, work with a strong news and digital team, and grow with a 20-year-strong weather department renowned for accuracy and outreach.

Qualifications

• A degree in meteorology and a background in broadcast communications/journalism preferred.
• Motivation and passion for meteorology with strong communication skills.
• Digital-first mindset to engage audience across platforms.
• Creative storytelling that connects data to everyday life.
• Ability to work solo or in a collaborative weather center.
• Technical chops with weather graphics systems and related tech.
• Handle severe weather with urgency and calm while making quick decisions.
• Ability to work all shifts, including early mornings and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Own the weekend evening forecasts for 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. newscasts.
• Drive digital weather coverage across social media, apps, and streaming.
• Tell the weather story through clear graphics and engaging reporting.
• Collaborate with news and digital teams for seamless, multi-platform coverage.
• Learn from an award-winning weather team with extensive industry experience.
