Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian/Westchester Behavioral Health Center seeks an Evening Mental Health Worker for the Float Pool in White Plains. You will be on the front lines ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment for patients receiving psychiatric treatment.

You will observe, assess, and document patient well-being, communicating changes to the nursing and clinical teams for timely interventions. This role emphasizes compassionate, person-centered care and collaboration with respected clinicians.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required.
• Demonstrate commitment to continued learning & orientation completion.
• College degree in social work or psychiatry preferred.
• At least one year of psychiatry-related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote patient safety through vigilant observation, monitoring, and reporting.
• Build therapeutic relationships that support recovery and reinforce patient-centered care.
• Assist patients with daily activities while encouraging independence, dignity, and engagement in their treatment plans.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to signs of distress, anxiety, or behavioral changes.
• Record vital signs and other key clinical information that informs multidisciplinary treatment decisions.
• Contribute to a culture of compassion, collaboration, and continuous improvement in patient outcomes.
