Job summary

Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire is seeking full-time Mental Health Technicians to support patients across inpatient and outpatient programs. The role emphasizes continuous care, safety, and therapeutic engagement in a structured environment, with the MHT serving as a positive role model.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, conducting environmental safety rounds, and facilitating therapeutic activities, with crisis management as directed by licensed staff.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: One year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
• Certifications: CPR and Handle With Care certification; certifications may be obtained during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and establishing and maintaining good health by using effective, therapeutic communication techniques.
• Conduct environmental rounds on unit for safety and document observations.
• Facilitate patients’ participation in therapeutic activities and groups.
• Implement crisis management skills as directed by licensed staff.
