Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services in Petersburg, VA is seeking a Material Handler to support daily waste processing operations and maintain a clean, safe work environment. The role includes 1:30 pm–10:00 pm shifts, training provided, uniforms supplied, health benefits, tuition reimbursement, and a Stay-On bonus, offering solid growth within an essential industry.

You will document processing volumes, work with a team, and participate in process improvements while adhering to safety policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 0–2 years in warehouse, manufacturing, sanitation, or labor.
• Ability to lift 50–75 pounds and push/pull up to 200 pounds.
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to work overtime/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload autoclave carts and box waste safely and efficiently.
• Move carts through tipping and cart washing equipment.
• Clean containers and equipment using pressure washing tools.
• Inspect carts and containers for cleanliness and damage.
• Weigh box waste and record processing information.
• Bale cardboard and assist with loading trailers for shipment.
• Keep work areas clean and organized.
• Follow all safety policies and guidelines.
• Track and document daily processing and production volumes.
• Work with team members to support daily operations.
• Assist with process improvements and special projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
