Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars, IA is hiring a Medical Lab Scientist or Medical Technician for the Laboratory Department. This full-time role includes an evening shift (40 hours/week) with a $5,000 sign-on/retention bonus and opportunities for professional growth.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in MLS or an Associate’s in MLT, 1 year of hospital lab experience preferred, and ASCP or AMT certification within 12 months of hire. BLS is a plus; employee certification is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
• 1 year of experience in a hospital laboratory is preferred.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist from the ASCP or AMT within 12 months of hire.
• BLS certification is a plus; certification is required as an employee.
• Mandatory Reporter training certification is a plus; certification is required as an employee.

Responsibilities

• Provides phlebotomy on adults, children, and infants by venipuncture or capillary methods and direct arterial punctures.
• Performs routine and special laboratory testing, recording, and test results reporting within established turnaround time.
• Interprets analytical findings to assess compliance with hospital and industry standards.
• Performs specimen collection, handling, processing, and testing following established procedures.
• Maintains instrument calibration, function checks, and preventative maintenance.
• Assists in evaluating new tests and procedures; performs quality control and remedial action for unacceptable results.
