Job summary

ABB Optical Group is seeking a Maintenance Technician I for a Monday–Friday 3pm–12am shift. The role focuses on preventive maintenance of lab equipment, calibration, and basic troubleshooting with supervision as training concludes.

Strong English communication skills are required to document issues and coordinate with management. The job involves indoor lab work, some travel, and potential overtime based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Six (6) months of optical manufacturing experience or prior equipment maintenance experience in a technical or manufacturing environment, as determined relevant by management.
• Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with management about technical details, questions, and ideas
• Notify Supervisor or Manager in a timely manner of observed or reported machine and / or technical problems
• Understand the workflow concept of the entire Lab operations
• Operate most equipment without supervision including air compressors, blockers, polishers, generators, engravers, non-dip backside coaters and Windows PCs
• Calibrate and operate listed equipment without supervision after training
• Perform basic troubleshooting and simple repairs without supervision on listed equipment and other devices after training
• Perform routine, scheduled and emergency maintenance under limited supervision
• Understand and use technical documentation such as parts lists, maintenance guides and exploded drawings
• Follow approved safety instructions, practices, and procedures
• Maintain lines of communication with Supervisor/Manager via email and phone
• Work extended/overtime hours as needed
• Other duties as assigned
