Job summary

WGME in Portland, ME is seeking an experienced Floor Director for our evening newscasts. The role supports live studio operations, coordinating cues, and assisting guests and talent with equipment in a fast-paced environment.

The candidate should have live production experience, knowledge of video/audio setups, and a related degree is preferred. Lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and headset use are required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a live production environment as a support crew.
• Live video or audio experience.
• Degree in a related field preferred (audio/visual/theatrical).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the live studio for newscasts.
• Keep track of broadcast cues and talent positions in studio.
• Assist talent and guests with microphone and other equipment.
• Move and position multiple studio cameras and set pieces.
• Modify and program lighting panels for special events or studio functions.
• Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of studio space and equipment.
• Maintain a safe studio environment with responsibilities around trip hazards and set safety.
• Prepare and guide studio guests from standby locations to on-air interviews or segments.
• Support operation of the station by assisting Engineering, News, and other departments.
• Other duties as assigned.
