Job summary

Connections for the Homeless is seeking a Life Skills House Mentor to support 18-24 year olds in Evanston, IL within Our House, a transitional living program. The role focuses on strengths-based, harm-reduction coaching to help participants live independently and manage daily tasks in a 24/7 staffed setting.

The mentor will provide evening coverage from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, build community, reinforce house rules, and collaborate with case managers.

Qualifications

• Harm reduction approach and trauma-informed care are required.
• Ability to maintain boundaries and exercise good judgment in resident settings.
• Experience with youth in social services is preferred or transferable.

Responsibilities

• Provide evening Life Skills coaching and support independent living skills.
• Collaborate with staff to address barriers to independence and maintanence of rooms.
• Develop and facilitate life skills group programming.
• Assist with housekeeping, chores, and daily living tasks.
• Maintain a safe living environment and professional participant relationships.
• Coordinate with Youth Programs Manager for staffing and coverage.
