Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking an Evening Circulation Assistant for the Orlando campus library. This temp-to-hire role supports front-line service, handles patron needs, and helps with circulation, study room bookings, and basic tech assistance during evening hours.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of customer service or library experience, an associate degree if possible, and reliability to work independently in a busy, late-day environment; salary is $17/hour with eligible benefits after

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of relevant customer service, library, administrative, or circulation experience required.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Two years of library circulation desk experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Responsibilities

• Perform end-of-day shutdown tasks, including securing equipment, clearing tables, and organizing shelving carts.
• Coordinate with security personnel during library closing procedures and report any security concerns.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for unexpected situations during evening hours.
• Assess situations and contact appropriate personnel when necessary.
• Enforce library policies and access requirements.
• Check library materials in and out.
• Provide reserve materials and circulation assistance.
• Answer directional and basic reference questions.
• Assist patrons with study room reservations and fax services.
• Direct patrons to appropriate resources and staff for additional assistance.
• May be trained and certified as a Notary Public to assist patrons as needed.
• Assist patrons with printers, copiers, wireless printing, computers, and Wi-Fi access.
• Replace paper and toner supplies.
• Resolve basic equipment issues and report more complex problems.
• Submit technology support requests and coordinate service calls when necessary.
• Shelve and organize materials using standard library classification systems.
• Maintain the appearance of study spaces and public areas.
• Assist with collection shifting projects as needed.
• Report facility issues and coordinate maintenance requests.
