Job summary

Barry University in Orlando seeks a Circulation Assistant to provide prompt, knowledgeable service at the Law Library's Circulation Desk, enforce policies, assist with study room reservations, and handle evening technology support.

This role focuses on closing duties, responding to emergencies after 5 PM, data entry and statistics, and supervising student workers, with a schedule Sunday through Thursday evenings and intersession shifts.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1-3 years previous experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
• Ability to learn and perform basic maintenance functions for copiers, computers and printers within the library.

Responsibilities

• Closes Law Library: performs shutdown duties and coordinates with security.
• Responds to emergencies after 5:00 PM and contacts appropriate authorities if needed.
• Assists patrons at the Circulation Desk and enforces library policies.
• Provides face-to-face service, helps with reserves, and answers questions.
• Trains or certifies as a Notary for evening requests if needed.
• Assists with study room reservations and sending faxes.
• Instructs patrons on printers, PrintMe service, computers and Wi-Fi; troubleshoots basic issues.
• Maintains order using Library of Congress call numbers; shelves and shifts materials.
• Tracks patron statistics and assists with department reporting.
• Supervises and trains student workers as directed.
