Job summary

Barry University’s Law Library seeks an Evening Circulation Assistant to provide courteous service to patrons and support the Public Services team. The role focuses on the evening/weekend schedule, with duties from desk assistance to light IT and facility tasks.

This position requires an Associates degree, strong communication skills, and 1–3 years of experience. The department emphasizes a customer-service attitude and reliable, flexible availability during academic sessions.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1-3 years previous experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
• Ability to learn and perform basic maintenance functions for copiers, computers and printers within the library.

Responsibilities

• Close Law Library and perform shutdown duties with security coordination.
• Respond to emergencies after 5:00 PM and contact appropriate authorities when needed.
• Assist patrons at the Circulation Desk and enforce library policies.
• Instruct patrons on printer/copier usage and PrintMe wireless service; handle maintenance tasks.
• Maintain Library order and shelving using the Library of Congress call number system.
• Track and report evening patron statistics and library usage.
• Supervise and train student workers as directed.
• Handle interlibrary loan processing as a backup.
