Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO, is seeking a Lab Support Technician (LST I) to join the provider care team. The role focuses on specimen collection, processing and transport, ensuring accurate and timely laboratory support while upholding HIPAA confidentiality and Mercy service standards.

Evening and weekend shifts are required. The LST I will work in a fast-paced clinical lab, delivering high-quality customer service and supporting data and scheduling functions as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED or enrolled in a healthcare career program.
• Experience: Previous experience in a clinical laboratory preferred.
• Must complete probationary period and no active disciplinary actions.
• HIPAA confidentiality and lab policies must be observed.
• Strong customer service skills required.

Responsibilities

• Acquire laboratory specimens for testing using safe, accurate methods.
• Process, transport and refer all specimen types and reports as required.
• Provide accurate, timely laboratory support in line with Mercy standards.
• Exhibit courteous, professional customer service in all interactions.
• Support scheduling and data tasks as part of the provider care team.
