Hartford Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support Lab Services / Phlebotomy. The role involves preanalytical processing, specimen preparation for reference laboratories, and accessioning/registration under supervision.

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma and 1 year of relevant experience or training, plus strong interpersonal and communication skills. OSHA/compliance awareness and scheduling flexibility are required.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in a laboratory, medical or related setting OR any training that supports minimum training for the duties above.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal, written and listening) skills and good leadership abilities.
• Ability to comply with OSHA and applicable regulatory requirements by following established procedures in order to maintain a safe laboratory environment and to meet accreditation standards.
• Ability to be flexible as required to adapt to laboratory needs as related to testing and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Supervisor, the lab assistant is responsible for support functions, preanalytical processing, preparing specimens to send to appropriate reference laboratories and accessioning/ registration functions.
• Accessioning/registration duties as part of the lab workflow.
• Maintain safety and compliance with OSHA and lab accreditation standards.
