Job summary

Mercy Medical Center is seeking a full‑time Housekeeping Associate for the 2nd shift with a 3:00pm start time to disinfect and sanitize patient care areas throughout the hospital.

Responsibilities include waste handling, bed stripping, replenishing supplies, and maintaining safe, clean environments. Proficient English, basic math, computer literacy, and professional appearance are required.

Qualifications

• Fluent English in reading, writing and speaking.
• Basic math skills for supplies and measurements.
• Computer literacy for EPIC transfers/discharges and reporting.
• Neat appearance and professional image.
• Good guest relations and teamwork in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Disinfects and sanitizes assigned work areas using proper equipment.
• Removes waste, linen, recycling, and sharps containers; cleans areas daily.
• Vacuums and maintains cleaning equipment and carts safely.
• Reports repairs or unsafe conditions to management immediately.
• Replenishes patient supplies and strips/makes beds when needed.
• Operates Vocera for professional communication; follows safety rules.
• Follows infection control and universal precautions; uses chemicals safely.
• Cross trains in multiple areas and assists other units as assigned.
• Assists with EPIC-based transfers and discharges as required.
