Job summary

Goodwin Living in Alexandria, VA, is seeking an Admission Nurse to manage patient admissions for hospice services. The RN will assess patients, craft care plans, and coordinate with physicians and the care team to ensure timely and compassionate end-of-life care.

The role requires an RN license in Virginia, a minimum of one year acute care experience (hospice preferred), CPR, and strong communication skills in English. Schedule: weekdays 3:00 pm–11:00 pm with every other weekend.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Licensed to practice as an RN in Virginia.
• Minimum one year of acute care experience; hospice preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Presents hospice services and philosophy of care to patients and families.
• Performs in-person assessments to determine hospice eligibility and secures physician consent.
• Develops plan of care addressing patient needs for optimal functioning.
• Completes admissions processes and initiates start of care documentation.
• Communicates goals of care with interdisciplinary team and family.
• Delivers direct nursing care under physician orders in a hospice setting.
