Job summary

MU Health Care’s Environmental Services Technician team is hiring for an on-site role at University Hospital in Columbia, MO. You will perform cleaning tasks across patient rooms, restrooms, procedure areas, and public spaces with a strong emphasis on infection prevention, safety, and customer service.

The position runs Monday–Friday 3:00pm–11:30pm with every other weekend, and includes an evening shift differential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent combination of education/experience as determined by the hiring department.
• Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine cleaning tasks in patient rooms, procedure areas, restrooms, public areas, clinics, and offices according to established protocols.
• Interacts professionally with patients, visitors, staff, and the public, using approved scripting and maintaining a service-oriented approach.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
• Follows all infection control guidelines, including the use of PPE and isolation room procedures.
• Handles soiled linen, regular waste, and medical waste in accordance with department safety standards.
• Delivers and stocks clean linen, monitors par levels, and enters data using handheld or desktop computers.
• Operates equipment such as vacuums and carts safely and reports any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor.
• Follows safety protocols when working with wet floors, ladders, and cleaning equipment to prevent accidents.
• Maintains equipment in clean, safe working condition and ensures the work area is compliant with inspection standards.
• May assist Floor Care Technicians or support team development tasks as assigned.
• May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.
