Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking a dedicated cook to prepare nutritious meals for patient and retail service within a healthcare setting. Responsibilities focus on safety, sanitation, and high-quality menu items for high-risk populations.

Qualifications

• Must have English language and basic math skills.
• Must be able to complete mandatory computer-based learning and pass exams.
• Must understand and follow safety regulations in a healthcare food-service environment.
• ServSafe Food Handler certification is required (within 90 days of hire).

Responsibilities

• Ensures HACCP and County Health Department guidelines are followed.
• Maintains clean and organized work areas, free of spills and hazards.
• Monitors and records food and/or equipment temperatures and corrects out-of-range issues.
• Stores food and supplies with proper labeling, dating and rotation.
• Operates equipment safely and escalates unsafe conditions.
• Completes area checklists and follows station responsibilities with accuracy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
