Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Microbiology Technician in Birmingham, AL to monitor classified areas and utilities, perform environmental monitoring and microbial testing in GMP-compliant conditions. The role emphasizes strict adherence to GMP standards and safety protocols.

The position is full-time, onsite, with training spanning 60-90 days and a 40-hour workweek. Candidates should bring microbiology experience and familiarity with SOPs, GLPs, and documentation practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in microbiology or related field.
• Minimum 1 year in clinical, academic, or industrial/pharmaceutical microbiology labs.
• Experience with environmental monitoring and testing.
• Familiarity with GMP and GLPs.
• Ability to work in a fully onsite lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental monitoring using active/passive air sampling and surface sampling methods.
• Test city water, pre-treat water, clean steam, and Water for Injection for microbial count and endotoxins.
• Identify microorganisms using classical microbiological methods.
• Carry out validation activities such as biological indicator recovery and endotoxin testing.
• Analyze and enter data into the Microbiology Information Management Systems (MIMS).
• Document test results and conclusions in GMP-compliant manner.
• Ensure completeness of test forms before submission for approval.
• Comply with quality systems and adhere to safety, health, and environmental procedures.
