Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a full-time Floor Care Technician at IU Health University Hospital. The role focuses on maintenance, appearance, and safety of floor surfaces across facilities, using auto-scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, and carpet extractors.

You will coordinate with Environmental Services and clinical teams to minimize disruption, follow safety and infection prevention protocols, and help create a clean, welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• No prior floor care experience required; competency within 2 months of hire.
• Indiana driver's license and proof of insurance required.
• Ability to pass floor care competency assessment.
• Must wear protective equipment per hospital policy and regulatory requirements.
• Physically able to stand for long periods and lift 50 lbs or more.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, appearance, and safety of floor surfaces across facilities.
• Operate auto-scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, and carpet extractors.
• Coordinate with Environmental Services and clinical teams to minimize disruption.
• Assist with setup of safety zones and communicate work area impacts.
• Support equipment maintenance and report floor conditions needing repair.
• Follow safety signage and infection prevention protocols.
