Job summary

University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus in Topeka, KS seeks an Evening Shift, full-time Emergency Department Patient Care Tech. The role works under licensed nurses to provide compassionate, safe care and supports various clinical and non-clinical duties.

Responsibilities include recording data, reporting observations, taking vital signs, assisting with ADLs, and collecting lab specimens while maintaining age-specific patient care competencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
• Completion of approved CNA/PCT certification program or enrollment in a certification program with less than one semester remaining.
• EMT Basic or paramedic license may substitute for CNA/PCT certification in ER.
• Must maintain active certification in Kansas.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with licensed nurses to deliver safe patient care.
• Performs delegated tasks under supervision and demonstrates advanced skills.
• Records data per policy and reports patient observations.
• Obtains vital signs and assists with ADLs (bathing, dressing, feeding).
• Collects lab specimens and supports patient monitoring.
