Job summary

Butler Hospital is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to maintain sanitary, orderly, and attractive areas throughout the hospital in accordance with Care New England standards.

Responsibilities include operating cleaning equipment, restocking supplies, waste management, and daily disinfection of patient rooms and common areas. Schedule includes 40/80 Full Time Evenings (4p-12a) with alternating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School diploma preferred
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• On the job training is provided

Responsibilities

• Maintains a cleaning cart in an orderly condition and stocked with required supplies.
• Removes waste including regular rubbish, cardboard, confidential paper, and hazardous material.
• Follows hazardous waste disposal and handling procedures.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms completely.
• Replenishes soap, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and paper towels.
• Daily disinfecting of assigned offices, corridors, elevators, stairs, patient rooms and beds as needed.
• Performs projects like wall/window washing, curtain changes, floor buffing, refinishing, scrubbing, and carpet cleaning.
• Operates heavy cleaning equipment (wet vacuums, extractors, buffers, floor machines, scrubbers, steamers).
• Sweeps, mops, and vacuums floors.
• Moves furniture and assists with conference room setups.
• Collects soiled linens and transports to laundry; returns clean linen.
• Turns and changes mattresses and executes bed moves.
• Disinfects areas by scrubbing or wiping.
• Completes assigned work orders and reports mechanical issues.
• Provides training to new or current employees when needed.
