Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an Environmental Service Worker at RWJ Hamilton Hospital to help create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The role supports infection prevention and patient safety by preparing rooms and maintaining hospital areas.

This full-time evening shift (3pm–11pm) includes rotating weekends and holidays. Prior hospital housekeeping or floor care experience is preferred, along with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and follow safety

Qualifications

• Hospital housekeeping and floor care experience preferred.
• Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physically active work.
• Ability to follow Joint Commission and Department of Health standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, bathrooms, operating rooms, and hospital areas.
• Perform trash removal, sweeping, mopping, and other environmental duties per policy.
• Handle medical, hazardous, and pharmaceutical waste properly.
• Clean surgical equipment and isolated/off-site areas as assigned.
• Maintain stock of supplies and chemicals; work independently while meeting standards.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and support compliance with safety procedures.
