Job summary

Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains, NJ is seeking a Full-Time Environmental Aide I (Housekeeping) for the Environmental Services Department. Shifts are 3:00PM to 11:00PM, with every other weekend and holiday required.

Starting rate is $18.50 per hour. You will clean nursing units and patient rooms using appropriate equipment, restock carts, handle bio-hazard materials, and follow cleaning procedures to prevent infection.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required or will obtain within 1 year of employment.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Solid work history and ability to meet fit testing requirements.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment in cleaning all nursing units, patients' rooms and all other designated facility areas, including the floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture etc.
• Follows the department's policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
• Cleans up major spills when necessary and responds to pages in a timely manner.
• Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
• Removes all trash and linen within the hospital.
• Follows directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio‑hazard materials.
• Makes periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area.
• Reports any repairs to maintenance.
• Keeps abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings.
• Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher‑level staff.
• Position includes cleaning of bodily fluids.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
